Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) Platform

A clinical staff platform for high-risk chronic care, combining scheduled check-in calls with real-time vital alerts.

Industry:Healthcare Technology
Our Role:Backend Specialist / DevOps Engineer

Project Overview

A platform for clinical staff managing high-risk chronic care patients between visits. REST APIs handle scheduling, medical thresholds, and real-time vital alerts, while Twilio Voice and two-way SMS pipelines keep staff in contact with patients. Query plan tuning in PostgreSQL removed the timeouts that appeared when several clinicians updated records at once.

Timeouts under concurrent clinician updates

Scheduled check-in calls, threshold-based alerting, and patient contact all converged on the same records, and the database struggled once multiple clinicians worked concurrently.

Concurrent clinician updates causing query timeouts
Vital alerts needing to reach staff in real time
Two-way patient contact over both voice and SMS

Tuned data layer behind real-time alerting and Twilio pipelines

REST APIs cover scheduling, medical thresholds, and alerts, with WebSockets pushing vital alerts to staff as they fire. Twilio Voice and two-way SMS handle patient contact, and PostgreSQL query plans were tuned to hold up under concurrent clinician activity.

Our Approach

Designed REST APIs for scheduling, thresholds, and real-time vital alerts
Integrated Twilio Voice and two-way SMS pipelines
Tuned PostgreSQL query plans to remove timeouts under concurrent updates
